What inspires a Dutch artist in the deep and green heart of France?
Here in ‘my’ region, where I stay for a few months a year (the Limousin), the clock ticks just a little slower. As an artist, you become fascinated here by the greenest region of France, and your entire palette changes. The light is softer than in the Netherlands, and you become captivated by the dynamics of the beautiful rolling landscape. The seasons, with their deep melancholic rust colors, the bright blue summer skies, or a serene emptiness, provide mental space to slow down, making the work more intuitive.
As a Dutch artist, you find great happiness in this region with total artistic freedom in an overwhelmingly rich environment.
This landscape reminds me of the core of my craft: looking, feeling, and painting pure wonder.
